چکیده

Analysis of flow in fluidized beds, a common chemical reactor, is of much current interest due to its fundamental as well as industrial importance. Experimental data for the successive increments of the pressure fluctuations time series in a fluidized bed are analyzed by computing a multiscale probability density function (PDF) of the increments. The results demonstrate the evolution of the shape of the PDF from the short to long time scales. The deformation of the PDF across time scales may be modeled by the log-normal cascade model. The results are also in contrast to the previously proposed PDFs for the pressure fluctuations that include a Gaussian distribution and a PDF with a power-law tail. To understand better the properties of the pressure fluctuations, we also construct the shuffled and surrogate time series for the data and analyze them with the same method. It turns out that long-range correlations play an important role in the structure of the time series that represent the pressure fluctuation.

Power-law distribution of pressure fluctuations in multiphase flow.

Bubbling fluidized beds are granular systems, in which a deep layer of particles is set in motion by a vertical gas stream, with the excess gas rising as bubbles through the bed. We show that pressure fluctuations in such a system have non-Gaussian statistics. The probability density function has a power-law drop-off and is very well represented by a Tsallis distribution. Its shape is explained...

Pressure fluctuations as a diagnostic tool for fluidized beds

The goal of this research is to determine how spectral analysis of pressure fluctuations can be used as a diagnostic and design tool for both bubbling fluidized beds (BFB) and circulating fluidized beds (CFB). Static pressure fluctuations are measured from two BFB models, two CFB models, and two Pyropower CFB boilers located at the ISU power plant/cogeneration facility. Analyzing the fluctuatio...

Segregation Behaviour of Particles in Gas Solid Fluidized Beds at Elevated Pressure

A comprehensive mathematical model based on the discrete particle model and computational fluid dynamics was utilized to investigate mixing and segregation of particles in fluidized beds at high pressure. To quantify the extent of mixing in the bed, the Lacey mixing index was used. Simulations were carried out with different mass fractions of small particles at various pressures ranging from 1 ...

Online Detection of Hydrodynamic Changes in Fluidized Bed using Cross Average Diagonal Line

Online detection of hydrodynamics of gas-solid fluidized bed was characterized using pressure fluctuations by cross recurrence plot (CRP) and cross recurrence quantification analysis (CRQA). Experiments were conducted in a lab scale fluidized bed of various particle sizes 150 μm, 280 μm and 490 μm at different gas velocities. Firstly, pattern changes of cross recurrence plot were discussed and ...

Effect of Pressure on Flow Behaviors in Dense Gas- Fluidized Beds: a Discrete Particle Simulation Study

A computational study has been carried out to assess the influence of pressure on the flow behaviors in dense gas-fluidized beds. Therefore the discrete particle simulation approach has been employed to study the regime transitions, local two-phase flow structures and the energy dissipation distribution. The results show that high pressure reduces the incipient fluidization velocity, widens the...
